Halo Championship Series Salt Lake City Major 2024

Goal

Working alongside Airlock and Spacestation Gaming, we had one clear goal: make the HCS Salt Lake City Major even bigger and better than last year. For those unfamiliar, this is one of four Major tournaments in the U.S. for the Halo Championship Series, and it's a cornerstone event for the franchise and its fans.

After the overwhelmingly positive response to the 2023 Global Invitational, we knew expectations were high. So we scaled up in a big way. This year’s event took place in Hall 5 of the Salt Palace, giving us over 130,000 square feet to work with compared to last year’s 22,000. That extra space allowed us to go all out, with a 360 photo booth, pop-up tattoo parlor, carnival games, scavenger hunts, an RC Warthog racetrack, a full arcade with more than 20 games, merchandise booths, a VIP lounge, caster booth, casual tournament area, and of course, the main stage.

Every part of the event was crafted with intention. My creative team and I transformed the space with a Blade Runner-inspired cyberpunk theme and tucked in Halo Easter eggs wherever we could, making it a truly immersive experience for fans. The response was incredible, and the event was widely praised as one of the best Halo tournaments to date.
